ABOUT US

Harthill Carnival Society was formed nearly 50 years ago. We are a village organisation of volunteers who plan, create and stage community events in Harthill throughout the year, for the sole benefit and enjoyment of local residents and wider communities.  The community is at the heart of everything we do.  We also stage other events throughout the year such as the Easter Egg Hunt and the Christmas Lights illumination and switch on.A variety of community groups and organisations get involved each year, and as a society we are constantly looking and actively engaging ways in which we can bring inclusion in everything we do.  From giving young children a platform to perform their talents to bringing together people from different backgrounds, Harthill Carnival Society exists to improve the communities its serves. We are constantly engaging with the local community to gain feedback, ideas and ways in which we can evolve and improve the impact we have on the entire community.  We always welcome new volunteers to the society. The annual Carnival & Show, always takes place on the second Saturday in July, and attracts between 2,000 - 3,000 people each year. The day starts with the Carnival Parade which see's a plethora of floats, vintage tractors, classic cars, bands and many others take to the streets of Harthill, and follows a route around the village, culminating with it's arrival onto the Showground on Spens Field. This then signals the official opening of the Harthill Carnival & Show, and the fun really begins....... Shire & Clydesdale Horse Show, Main Arena Acts, The Village Green outdoor entertainment space, Artisan Food & Drink, Fairground Rides, Stalls, Circus Skills, Vintage Tractors and Engines, Live Animal Enclosure and much more.  The daytime then comes to a close, and the main marquee is transformed into a evening event space, where a live band performs to a sell out crowd. It is difficult to describe and capture Harthill Carnival & Show in words, so the best way is to come and experience it for yourself...... you won't be disappointed!!
